Are you a team player?
Definitely. We magnify our success when we are interdependent.
I've worked primarily in teams throughout my career. I tend to do thinking and prototyping on my own. When I first got management responsibilities at National Life, I had a team of three. This grew to 10. I also had dozens of indirect reports on projects.
Some of these people were considered tough to get along with but I usually got results. One strategy is to reach them through someone to whom they listen. Another strategy is to make sure they get recognition.
I've been on committees
- Toronto Board of Trade: Community Advisory Committee (2012), Business Excellence Awards committee (2012)
- CALU Membership and Communications Committee: 2012, 2013
